Umar Johnson, also known as Dr. Umar, claims that he was offered money for a sit-down with Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Last night (Aug.15) Umar posted on X (formerly Twitter) screenshots of messages between hisself and someone from Harris’ campaign team. The messages say that the Harris team wanted to reach out to Umar for “being a big part of the black community.”
Her campaign team offered Dr. Umar $10,000 dollars for a Zoom interview for an hour.
Dr. Umar responded that he was not interested in the money, and that he would like to have a conversation with Harris one on one to discuss “our needs and her plans for the Black community.”
He also added that their conversation would have to be aired live to the “National Black Community” and not prerecorded. He stated that he would be very respectful of the Vice President, but he would ask the hard hitting questions about miseducation, mass incarceration, police brutality, economic strangulation, gentrification/migrant crisis, reparations, and the need for a federal anti-Black Hate Crime Bill.
Dr. Umar also posted a video on X explaining that he refuses to be a sell-out. He mentioned that comedians Rickey Smiley and Steve Harvey are being paid to make the Black community feel guilty about voting or not voting.
