There’s an science to throwing a successful dinner party. From picking a menu that satisfies the majority, to strategically seating your guests in the room according to compatibility, and timing the flow of the event, being sure to hit all appointed parts of the program.

Eric the Puzzler and Citrine have mastered this science to bring Philly its first escape room dinner party.

Dating back to the early days of the pandemic, Eric Dale, also known as Eric the Puzzler on Instagram, has been curating riddles, scavenger hunts, and outdoor challenges for Philly’s puzzle enthusiasts. “I like trying to create things that you can’t really describe unless you’ve experienced them,” Dale explains.

Dale’s most popular game, The Keys to Philly, invites players on a treasure hunt to search for keys hidden around different parts of the city. So far, 22 keys have been found by lucky winners who scored fun prizes from different local businesses in the city.

Alex Cahanap, the owner of Citrine, a boutique tablescape design and rental service. recalls the moment he met Dale. What started off exchanging pleasantries at a networking dinner party, turned into a full-blown masterplan to captivate a niche market in Philadelphia.

“We just started talking about what we do,” Cahanap recalls. “Before we knew it, we were brainstorming an escape room dinner party.”

The next Escape Room Dinner Party will be Saturday, March 1st, at Citrine in Jasper House, located at 1825 East Boston Street. Tickets go for $195 and are available [CLCIK HERE].
