Exercise is a crucial component to healthy living. But as the world has not yet fully recovered from the 2020 world pandemic, staying inside and overindulging on food, drink, and even drugs, has become the new norm.
A new study has crunched the numbers to reveal which U.S. states are least likely to get moving and the results might surprise you.
Analyzing data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the study, conducted by SportsMillions, ranks states where residents are skipping the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. While a lack of exercise is a nationwide issue, some states are falling behind more than others when it comes to staying active.
The Southern and Midwest states dominate the top 20, but there is one state in the northeast that ranks surprisingly higher than expected on the list.
Pennsylvania ranks as the 3rd laziest state in America, with over 75% of Pennsylvanians failing to meet the CDC exercise guidelines. From Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, we can assume a lot of Pennsylvanians would rather be cheering for their sports teams than playing the game themselves.
