After the Eagles won, there were rumors that the team would decline the invitation, after an Eagles fan account posted on social media, that close sources revealed members of the organization were not looking forward to meeting with the President.

“According to “a well-placed insider,” discussions between #Eagles players and their front office resulted in a “massive no” when asked if they would accept an invitation to the White House to honor their Super Bowl Victory,” the account posted on X.
It’s evident that the Eagles do not have the healthiest relationship with the President, as Trump was in office when Philadelphia won Super Bowl LII. Multiple key players — including captains — of the 2018 roster opted out of the White House visit.

President Trump elected to cancel the visit altogether and took to social media to explain his reasoning.

“The Philadelphia Eagles Football Team was invited to the White House. Unfortunately, only a small number of players decided to come, and we canceled the event.” Trump wrote on X. “Staying in the Locker Room for the playing of our National Anthem is as disrespectful to our country as kneeling. Sorry!”
But the past is behind both parties, as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a briefing Tuesday that Trump will welcome the team to Washington on April 28.
“We sent an invitation. They enthusiastically accepted. And you will see them here on April 28,” Leavitt said.
