The jury selection for the federal case of Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to begin today.

The trial is happening nearly seven months after the pop culture figure was indicated for racketeering conspiracy, transportation to engage in prositution and sex trafficking, crimes that the government claims spanned over two decades. Combs has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Combs has been held in the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since his September 2024 arrest. The trial itself will not be televised and is set to begin on May 12. He is facing five sounts in total with charges related to four victims, including one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of transportation to engage in prositution. One of the victims was a former employee of Combs.

Nearly 600 potential jurors filled out questionnaires as the court narrows the pool to 12 jurors and 6 alternates whom the parties feel can fairly and impartially render a verdict, despite the intense media spotlight on the case. The jury will remain anonymous to prevent threats or harassment. The civil suit prompted a criminal investigation, as federal agents raided his properties in Miami and Los Angeles, seizing multiple devices.

Singer Cassie Ventura, along with three other women, are expected to tell the jury about being drugged and forced to participate in alleged “freak offs.”
